Calumet C2 6*7 film holder; how to safely slip in ?

Yesterday I obtained a Calumet C2 Film holder (6*7) which can be slipped beneath the ground glass. Anyway my question is more about how to slip the holder behind the spring ground glass: I have a Sinar back, and it can open wide enough to let the holder be slipped in. The problem is that you have to take care that the holder does not touch the inside/rough side of the ground glass when slipping in (I now know why the previous owner of my Sinar/INKA has scratched the ground glass).

Is this a known fact, or do I miss something and do this wrong..any tricks/experiences?

(I now slip 2-3 cm in, than lift the other side of the back (which is still "closed") up and slide the holder all the way, it seems with this procedure the back does not touch the glass)

Thick things always go in better if you open the back on either side manually rather than wedging and prying it open with the holder and I imagine there's less wear on everything that way, so your method is what I do with all holders, anyway. It sounds like a good plan.

I do the same as you with a Toyo 67 roll holder. So the roll film holder always moves in with ease. If there is resistance then there is a chance of scratching something.

It might be worth figuring out if there's some type of plastic molding/rail available somewhere that you could glue on to an old style holder. Calumet might even be able to supply the part separately, if the casting underneath hasn't changed.
