I've been shooting a 4X5 Tachihara for a couple of years now and had a question I thought would answer itself in time and usage. It hasn't.
What are the numbers in the baseboard? Are they Centimeters, Millimeters, parts of an inch or what?
How are they used? It seems measurement may be the answer but the farther the lens is moved from the GG the smaller number?
Thank you in Advance

After reading Fiel Stand 4"x5" I decided to pay no mind to the numbers. ;)
I own a Tachi and the numbers make no sense to me either.

You can use the scale to determine how much you need to stop down to get depth of field. See QT Luong's article on the main Large Format page.

See QT Luong's article on the main Large Format page.
Would you care to provide a direct link?
There are many articles on the main page. The only one attributed directly to QT is about camera bags.

The instructions that came with my camera merely say focussing scale without any explanation.
