Hi there,
Maybe someone has had this issue and fixed.
First.
The filter driver neoprene bushings have decomposed. I know you can use different materials to replace.

I sold the enlarger to a friend to use and he went ahead and tried to fix the bushings with used chem lab tubing.
This immediately shredded.

In the meantime the lamp has stopped working. The brand new spare also does not work.
When I left it in his possession the bulb was working

Any ideas?

A few years ago one could still get new rubber wheels from OmegaSatter. In terms of illumnation, I'd start by examining the socket for oxidation and measure the voltage at the pins. Should be 82 volts. The power supply is a modular unit, if yours is bad, it could be replaced easily with another working one from a 'parts' enlarger. The power supply can also be rebuilt ( http://www.apug.org/forums/forum43/59904-d5500-power-supply-complete-rebuild-scratch.html )

Thank you for the link to Apug. Sounds time consuming for both sourcing parts and difficult to repair. No voltage at the bulb socket.
I need to get this unit up and running, but I am not good with rebuilding circuits.
The company in Canada who services these is KHB PHOTOGRAFIX
I contacted them but they want $700 to repair it.
The main enlarger mechanics are fine, so I think either an Ilford Multigrade 500H or a diffusion head without all the closed loop might work better for the school who purchased the unit from me.
Any suggestions?

I think the Super Chromega D head would be the best thing for you. It a reliable and easily serviced. I believe you would need a 'lift kit' to adapt it to the D5500 chassis. KHB used to have the "Lift Kit" adapter.
So that you know what to look for, this picture shows a D5500 chassis with the "Lift Kit" that allows the ubiquitous Super Chromega D head to be mounted.

Doesn't KHB sell replacement rollers?
I replaced the lift rollers on mine and remember(?) KHB as the source.

KHB sells all sorts of things.
They want to replace all three motors with the urethane rollers. The issue is that there is no power going to the bulb contacts.
I think an Ilford multigrade head would better suit the school. Or a diffusion head.

I have a D5500 CLS head and controller--and the rest. You pay the shipping and it's yours.
Bought it off the bay years ago and never used it. I have a De Vere 5108 instead that I actually use.
PM or email me. I'm at zip 40057, so no idea on shipping to Canada or the customs issue.

Grant, pm me with a shipping address so I can get a shipping quote. My offer stands--you pay the shipping and it's yours.
I'll never use it and it might as well go to someone who will.

Did anyone ever get the D5500 stuff? If in international shipping is an issue, the power supply alone can be removed from the head and shipped in a small box; sometimes that is the only part that is needed to repair a non-working unit.

An apology is in order. Perhaps ice racer is correct and only the head should be sent out.
