Hi Karl!

Your Adapter is designed for the use of 'In Camera Masking'... With respect to a 4x5 View Camera.
Thus the (ICM) Designation...

Back in the '70s the in-house industrial photographers at General Electric used in-camera masking devices to create some very interesting photographs.

Thanks, I understand now. It might be a while before I find an opportunity to use it, but at least I know what it is now! I will have to play around with it a bit to see how it fits with the camera.
