I just brought a crown graphic 1965 new in box never used the shutter sticks and doesnt open it clicks, does any one know a camera store in nyc that can lube /and get it working the shutter for me I dont want to start mailing it out of state
worried about it breaking if i keep trying to get it to work from what i was told this camera has not been out of the box since 1965

Yes, you are right. You certainly do not want to force a shutter like that. Old shutter lubricants can and do try up. The shutter needs to be disassembled, cleaned and lubricated. I used to know a shutter repair guy when I lived in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the '70s. He swore by dry lubricants such as Molybdenum.

I believe you should be able to find several firms in the New York City area who would be able to do a quality repair.

hell..sell it for big $$ (relatively), then buy a beat up one..a good lens..holders..a tripod and film with the money

someone will want it for a shelf and you could really get going withthe money
