Hi !

I have a question about this sliding carriage for my Century Studio 9A. I saw inside the back (when the ground glass is removed), 2 little things. What is it ?? It is for a plate ? It's not in the same distance with the ground glass so...
I make wet plates collodion and I try to find a issue to make/adapt this back for plate holder. If I can, I don't want to modify a 8x10 holder like I saw on Internet (like Mark Osterman).

The sliding carriage.

Why don't you convert/modify a modern film holder and use that for wet plate with your existing spring back? Alix Timmermans an excellent wet plate artist has a post on his web site which gives excellent directions to make the conversion. http://collodion-art.blogspot.nl/2013/03/how-to-convert-filmholder-into-wet.html

Those tabs are for holding the wing kits for either 8x10 or 5x7 they allow you to make two exposures on plate/film. 8x10- 2x 5x8 or 5x7- 2x 2 1/2x3 1/2

Ho ok ! I see! Thanks Louis!

And, my fault, I would like to say, Alex Timmermans, not Mark Osterman :) Yes, it's the best way to modify a modern holder, but I would like to find another tips... it seems pretty difficult. Maybe, it's the last option.

Last question, off topic, but one of the handle in the middle to block the second bellows, removed itself very often. Any idea?

If you don't feel up to the task of converting a film holder for wet plate work then simply order a wet plate holder from either Chamonix http://www.chamonixviewcamera.com/wetplateholders.htmlor Jody Ake at In Camera Industries http://incameraindustries.com/

Thanks Louis :) I know the Chamonix holder. There are not very expensive than the other I saw.

But, I made one from a photo frame and cardboard. I'll post a message in the DIY section soon. Next time, it's the ultimate test...
