Does anyone use Chamonix' folding hood for 4x5 cameras?

It's:
- too short to focus without a magnifying glass
- too long to focus with a 4x magnifying glass hold just by one's eye
- too narrow to keep a magnifying glass somewhere is the middle

I cut mine down so it's easier to use. As long as I was cutting, I added a curve so the end of the hood contours more like a Graflex hood.

Well, I also thought about cutting it, but there must had been some reason why they designed it like this...

I'm sure it suits the designer perfectly! :) After some quick work with a sharp scissors--it suits me.

My cheap ebay 6x loupe is long enough to use with the chamonix hood but 9 times out of 10 I don't bother with it. I only use the hood when being under a dark cloth would be inconvenient or dangerous. So most of the time when I use the hood I'll just do a quick DOF calculation and make sure I stop down enough to cover any slop.

I could only find expensive ones there, but maybe they were the same.

It virtually covers 100% cases :)
