hi Everyone
been offered a Nikon Nikkor W 105mm F/5.6 Lens at a good price.
I know it's the S instead of the SW version. with quite a small image circle.
Is it junk? or a good lens. I shot mostly landscape on a Linhof master classic
with a bit of movements rarely anything drastic.
opinions please
thanks in advance

Ain't no 105 Nikkor SW, SW focal lengths run 65, 75, 90 (two versions), 120.

The 105/5.6 W is a normal lens for 2x3. According to the catalog it covers 155 mm @ f/22.

Two Nikon LF lenses catalogs can be found at: https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=8D71BC33C77D1008!348

I own one and use it on a 2x3 Technikardan with a digital back. Excellent lens but won't cover 4x5. You would have dark corners at best.

Look at a Fuji 1st generation 125mm with the writing on the lens retaining ring not the barrel. I have one and it just covers 5x7. Very fine lens!

I have a late Fujinon SW 105/8, with writing on the outside of the barrel. It's a very nice lens.

With its huge 250mm IC it covers 4x5 with ample movements, and 5x7 with modest movements.

It took me forever to find it. Lenses in this FL that will cover 4x5 are few and far between.

It looks like 3 are available on ebay at this moment.

I use a Horseman 105mm Super with similar coverage and it allows all movements with a 9 x 6 technical camera
