Hello from the UK.

I have been searching for some time to find the bits needed to convert my Toyo 54G into a 10x8 camera.
I know they used to exist and someone somewhere must have an un-used one. Alas so far my search has only found
one result and that is to buy it from the only Toyo distributor. However, the cost of the parts is more than double the cost of a brand new Deardorff. So back in the rear world I am longing to get into 10x8 but simply cant find the parts I need.

I have listed my treasured Ilford 500H enlarger as a second route to funding a "10x8 camera" if I cant find the parts. In the UK I've tried a few of the shops inc MrCad and the usual but to no avail.

I would be delighted to receive advice on where to find these Toyo parts in Europe or better still the UK. Or If someone wants to part with a nice 10x8 folder I might well be interested.

Hi Bill,

Many thanks for the reply. In a nutshell I have a complete and operational Toyoview 45G and would like to convert her to 10x8. I guess that will mean a rear standard, focus screen inc frame, and bellows. I'll panic about the lenses later.

If Bill doesn't have what you need, Toyo G parts, including 8x10, are readily available on eBay.
It may be cheaper to buy a complete 810G than it would to buy the parts separately; that way you'll have spares, and finding proper extension rails can be difficult.
But it's worth it, as it's a fine system, and the cameras are very solid and wonderfully built.

Hi, I can see many problems converting your camera. Using spare parts is a big no,no. To expensive and you would be lucky to get them. The parts I have are for the 10x8 field camera. Please email me at billrepairs@ntlworld.com if you need any more help.

In my opinion, a photographer shouldn't need a reason or justification for wanting another camera!
