Today's New York Times Magazine has a series of double wide photos of the Presidentual Campaign which were shot with "a special large-format camera".

"in these pictures, the unessential detail is everything"

They make the cantidates look very very small which can't be a bad thing.

The photographer is Simon Norfolk

Steve, I look forward to that! When reading his beautiful book Afghanistan (http://http://www.growbag.com/photographers/simonnorfolk/afghanistan/index.asp) I'd wondered what format he used.
That's exactly the sort of photographer a few of us have been hankering after seeing in the pages. I was surprised that when I mentioned the lack of comment on Christopher Burkett, you didn't mention the 6 page article in Camera Arts. While the article was well illustrated, I felt it lacked substance - but then, I'd happily pay twice as much for another 24 pages, so my expectations may not be realistic bearing in mind the typical reader.

(I really like that html quick reference at the bottom of the posting section!).
