Hello,

Am looking to acquire a back for shooting fuji instant film with my 4x5 camera
or some Impossible Instant Film.

Unfortunately I know next to nothing about these products!

If some one could please give me some info on what backs these films are compatable with I would greatly appreciate it!

Pa-145 holder or polaroid 405 holder. That's all you need to know. Every major retaoler sells the film. $8-10/pack.

The PA145 will use the more economical of the instant films from Fuji (fp100c for example)
The PA45 will use the 4x5 sized instant film which are getting more rare and expensive (fp100c45 for example)
You'll want a camera with a graflock back rather than a normal leaf spring style back, as the spring backs often don't open up far enough for the thick holder.

The 4x5 films are no longer manufactured but some old stock can be found, just as you can find expensive old stock Polaroid (which is starting to get funky by now).

The smaller, less expensive FP100c film is approximately 3.25 x 4.25 inches so you lose a portion of the 4x5 image. You can find or make a mask for your ground glass or learn how to guesstimate what the image area is. It's good film otherwise.

I guess if you wait for months you might get lucky.

And I think they are worth it for a good one, that has perfect rollers and no crud.

I spend way more on the film and love shooting the B&W, 3200 ISO. How cool is that!

Since i have a 405 and 2 for RB, 1 for RZ, I have not been looking for them.

$20 is a fluke outlier sale.

I guess i will add them to my list.

Does a Polaroid 545i have any usefulness any more?

I'm still able to buy Fuji FP-100C45 and FP-3000BW45 so yes :) Although as I understand the Fuji 4x5 instant film has been discontinued, supplies will run dry eventually.

Welly, where do you get it (and how much do you pay) if you don't mind me asking?

If you still have or can find expired Polaroid 55 film ... then yes ... or hope that someone comes out with a similar product ... I'm keeping mine ...

Don't buy or sell one for more than $10 for a perfect one, but I would hang on to a nice one in hopes somebody makes film for it one day.

Cheap insurance

Fuji instant film - I got much of it from this guy on eBay: http://stores.ebay.com.au/cheapshotsaufilm - although it looks like he's out at the moment. I've bought from other ebay sellers and Vision Imagelab in Redfern (noticed you're Sydney based) can get it in - I've bought a few packs from there.

Just for clarification, Fuji FP-100C45 and FP-3000BW45 will not work in a Polaroid 545 holder. It works in the old Polaroid 550 holder or whatever confusingly-named holder Fuji made for it.

Oh, you're correct. I have both holders - it's the 550 which takes the film packs. The 545 is pretty much useless now. I'll keep hold of it though (if only because no one else wants this cluttering up their cupboard).

This is the useful one.

Could be wishful thinking, or from the rumor mill...hope it's not a hoax(?).
From 'thephoblographer.com' website:
Possibly, some of the last remaining, 4 X 5 Fuji, 'instant pack' film, FP100c45, may start hitting shelves in North America soon.
*(This is the [4 X 5 size] pack-film - requiring the larger, Polaroid 550, or Fuji PA-45 backs).

http://www.thephoblographer.com/2013/04/22/a-limited-supply-of-the-discontinued-fujifilm-4x5-fp100c-instant-film-will-be-hitting-america-soon/

A quick check today at Adorama and B&H - FP100c45, 'is not' listed at either site.

Yeah, Fuji stopped making it because people kept trying to buy it. Maybe the Impossible Project folks will get around to 4x5 film eventually, although I'm more interested in their 8x10 exploits.

From what I know Impossible has said they are not interested in 4x5 format.

There is the much-anticipated New 55 (http://new55project.blogspot.ca/) and the 20x24 studios have said on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/20x24Studio?fref=ts) they are working on making color 4x5 film from their massive stockpile of original Polaroid materials.

I asked me this same question and choose the "small" pola way
pola 405 back bought 125€ but in mint condition.
Here in France fp100C is 12€ for 10 exposures.
I was affraid of the "small" size but even with a 127mm people are not ricidulously small on the paper (And I've started selling some instant portrait today in my town)

I'm glad to choose this pola 405 back!

I refused to pay the crazy prices the 405 holders are trading for so I spent my day yesterday making my own. Used a holder and fabricated the 4x5 bed and darkslide out of a plastic file folder and extra 8x10 darkslide with some epoxy.

I have about a dozen holders for use as film backs for small format cameras. They are the same holder as fp100c with a notch in some for the 35mm format. I simply made a base out of darkslide material and sized everything to the proper backspacing of a standard 4x5 holder.. here is a picture of it. 95672
