Are Plate Cameras of any use these days?

A friend has an old 5X7 Linhof plate camera he wants me to sell for him. Does anyone use plate cameras these days, or they just collectibles?

It depends. I have many old German folding plate cameras in the 9x12 size that I still shoot with. Film sheaths allow for film to be used in place of glass plates in the holders. If the Linhof has plate holders then 5x7 film sheaths will allow for the use of film.
