Brooklyn Prints is looking to add new photographers to its expanding catalog of art prints and images of New York City. We sell to the general public as well as to designers around the country, and our prints are hanging in homes and offices around the United States (and in a few countries outside of the US). Our art prints are printed locally, in NYC, on an Epson Stylus Pro 11880, and each order is printed singly (in other words, we don't print off large quantities of our prints and store them in a warehouse). Our framed prints are also made locally, in Brooklyn, and are high quality hard wood frames with wide moldings and double layered mattes. We strive to make high quality products that are also affordable to the general public, so our prices are modest; a 20x24 framed art print on Hahnemuhle paper, for instance, is currently $260, and that includes the price of the print (our prices are all inclusive).
As we expand our catalog, we want to offer our new photographers free subdomain space on our website that can be used for promotional purposes. This space could be used as a portfolio or a bio page, just as long as it doesn't incorporate a blog or a tumblr, and will be hosted free of charge by us. (For example: "johndoe.brooklynprints.com" or "johndoephotography.brooklynprints.com.")
At the moment, we are a film only site; we only sell images that derive from film of some kind, and most of our images are from medium format or large format negatives. As we add new work to our catalog, we scan and process the scanned images at our expense, and we can consult with new photographers to make sure that the final images correspond to what he or she intended before the images go online and become available for sale.
(Note that although we have added a Digital Downloads option to our catalog, this feature is mainly for promotional purposes and will not be available to new photographers, so there is no need to worry about the safety of online images; the largest preview size that is available at our website is 1000x1000 pixels, and all images larger than 250 pixels are watermarked.)
Commission rates are decided on a case by case basis and depend on the photographer and his or her work. All payments to photographers are made via PayPal, and commissions are paid out at the end of each month, at least two weeks after a photographer's print has been delivered to the customer (we offer a two week money back guarantee on all of our products, so this two week clearing period is mandatory).
If you're interested in discussing how we can help you showcase your work and earn more money selling it to the general public, please send me a private message or feel free to send us an email directly at info AT brooklynprints DOT com.
