Will a six inch Artar APO F9 cover 4X5?

Goerz says no -- see http://www.cameraeccentric.com/html/info/goerz_3.html -- but I'm sure that users will pop up to say yes.

Thanks Dan. I'm looking at a real nice one on ebay. The guy is saying the lens covers 5X7!

Dialytes like the Artar have fairly narrow coverage, around 46 degrees for many, so it's highly unlikely a 6 inch will cover 5x7, if it covers 4x5 it will be pretty tight. It might fully illuminate but does it put usable image in the corners or mush?

Yeah, I thought it sounded a bit over optimistic. I going to pass on it.

I think you need an 8 inch dialyte to be on the safe side, good luck with the hunt.

Lenses cover more as we focus closer to the subject: the film moves further behind the lens and the circle of coverage gets large. By the time we reach 1:1 magnification, the image circle doubles in diameter, compared to its circle at infinity.

I think we can assume the OP was asking if it covered at infinity.
