Looking for plans / ideas to build wooden stand ( not tripod ) for 8x10 camera.
Movements needed - rise / down and tilt.
Nothing complex or too fancy, but must be elegant. Tried Google, but no luck -
tons of DIY tripods but no stands.
Thanks.
Igor.
PS Links to detailed pictures are wery wellcome too

You can scale a drafting table
http://www.marquis-kyle.com.au/herreshoff.htm

This will also help, you can adapt a screw mount to the drafting table

This hinge will give you the tilt needed - Did a search on Adjustable Drafting Table Hardware
http://thatshouldhold.com/build-your-own-drafting-table/

A piano stool kit will give the screw you need to raise and lower the table

Not a full set of plans but you can adapt as needed

I appreciate that you want to build your own. I was half-way through the same project when I lucked into two Century stands in need of repair, so I built one from the parts for less than $200.

Not mine, but an exact representation.

It is very simple, even elegant. The hard part is finding the toothed track and gear to raise and lower the platform. Perhaps someone can point us to a source. The steel or iron hand-wheels are easy to find, new or used.

Best of luck in your project,
Jac
