Hi everyone,
I'm looking for a cheap 4x5 scanner and have found an epson 2450 and 2480 on ebay. They're around the same price and I've heard good things about the 2450, but nothing about the 2480. Can the 2480 scan 4x5 negatives as well and is it better/worse than the 2450?
Thanks!

Epson's page for the 2480: http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=no&infoType=Overview&oid=41623&prodoid=46048265&category=Products

Looks like it only does 35mm film strips or slides for its transparency adaptor, so nothing larger.

Just to advise. I have the 2450. It's okay, but I have never found 64bit drivers for it. Meaning, I have never been able to use it on my "now old" 64bit Win 7 computer. I've had to maintain an old XP 32bit laptop just for those occasions.

Old F,

Download a trial version of VueScan (http://www.hamrick.com/). Be sure to choose the 64 bit version for Windoze.

I had to switch to Vuescan when I went to Win 7 64 bit because neither Silverfast or Microtek had a driver for my Microtek 1800f. Vuescan solved the problem, and works great.

Merci beaucoup mon ami. That would be just the ticket. I'll give it a try.
