Can anyone explain why this big Eidoscope seems to have 2 front cells?
Or is this a later factory version with "top hat" sort of flange extension?
But how does the flange end up in the middle?

Sleepless in Denmark.

Steven, I wish I had this problem!! Sorry I can't help but I'd love to know as well.

Flange in the middle to balance the weight when mounted? Very large Petzvals (> 5" lens dia) have the flange near the center of the lens for the same reason, I'm thinking.

cheers

Steven, you got it?
B.E has the flange near the middle (the iris) while H.E has flange near the rear element.
No matter cells, they are interchangeable. However, it's weird when it has hoods at both two ends.

No I don't have it - it requires 800 euros (minimum)!

In spite of it being so late (coated?) and clean, I was both doubtful and sensible for once!

PM if you absolutely need source info (I am in no way connected with this item).

To get you even more excited - it is described as "new".

I think it had the front elements of two lenses accidentally put on one lens. It's a parts lens probably. I can think of no other reason for a hood inside the dark camera.

Perhaps the very last Eidoscope no.1 made with last available lens cells. It is like a symmetrical RR so would be identical in function but, obviously not saleable at the time because of it's appearance.

Puzzle solved.

The last model from Berthiot had identical cells and detachable lens hoods.
So this one has an extra lens hood mounted a sensible place.

No purchase has been currently been made apart from Alex's old fashioned "brassy" - see posting #4.
