I became a member of our local historical society a couple years ago and started taking photos for them of many historical sites in the town I grew up in.. These are pictures I took for the society of the oldest school in Beech Grove Indiana, Holy Name Catholic School.. 91062

These are pictures I took...

I see a picture not pictures.

I dont really see how a Gym that looks fairly modern would be considered historical. The image would be better without the people in it.

91076 This school used to be a monastery 100 years ago and was converted to a school somewhere in the 40's.. It still retains all the old flooring and woodwork

Most of them are to dark. Im not sure B&W works for this group of photos

The brightness looks fine on my monitor. I get that it's an old school but the furnishings aren't. The black and white works great in my view.

your brightness is probably turned up a bit to high

Roger Cole

Or yours may be a bit "to" low, or even too low.

Nope they look a bit to dark once utter and ipad and I keep the brightness fairly high in the ipad.

You obviously are not open to other people's critiques of your images so why even post them.

They look great on my screen as well. I like B&W for these shots.

Apart from these being Steve's images, not Roger's, "Image sharing" forum's rule state:

"Critiques should only be offered if requested by the original poster".

They were not.

Perhaps you owe Steve an apology, and perhaps you should send the Moderators a request to remove your posts (and this one if you choose to do so)?

Or, perhaps you're not open to other people's critiques of your critiques?

I believe you meant "too dark" rather than "to dark".

Shots look fine to me. Not too dark. Very good documentary shots.

As Roger suggested, perhaps you have a monitor problem.

Simply posting them on an open forum leaves them open to critique.

I do appreciate you pointing out that I confused the two people.

As I said I have viewed them on more then one screen.

Then perhaps you have a vision problem.

You're the only one in this thread who has reported a problem viewing them.

I haven't posted any images in this thread. You can't even keep up with who you are talking too. ;)

All I have done is stated my opinion on the images. You and others may not agree and thats fine.

So you presume to post a critique based on how a photo looks on an iphone?

My but some people have low standards.

I never said iphone but what ever.

I said I viewed them on both a computer and ipad, and I felt the the images were dark in both places.

Again its an opinion. If I'm not allowed mine then you are not allowed yours ether.

I like the idea of photos of the old school house. I think I will contact my old grammer school and see if they would allow me to take some photographs. For old schools or any old building I think B&W is very appropriate.

Back to a more positive and constructive topic ..

Steve -- what format and focal length did you use on your project? It looks super wide angle! I'm interested to know more, as I'd like to start shooting more 4x5 interiors.

Steve I think the images are great and I do get the Old School Vibe. I really like the nurses station image.

Thank you Bob, strad, guy, everyone.. I just kind of documented the school without keying in on a particular element .. I guess I found it all equally interesting and telling so I shot wide on the scene. I never attended the school but my daughter's mother did and so I really didn't know what to expect .. I used a 58mm on a 4x5 Chamonix with Kodak txp 320 film.
