Hello,

I have a Sinar P 4x5, that the front plate says -Sinar 30 128/300 (then someones name in cursive)

Could anyone please tell me what - Sinar 30 128/300 (then someones name in cursive) means?

Thank You!! Norm

If the someone's name is C.(arl) Koch, you have a special anniversary model. Carl Koch was the designer/founder of Sinar.

To celebrate Sinar's 30th anniversary, Sinar manufactured 300 special edition P cameras. Yours is the 128th out of 300. Carl Koch's signature was engraved on the camera.

The interesting thing is, in year 2000 upon the 30th birthday of Sinar P camera, Sinar also made 33 millenium special edition P2 cameras, which also shows the shrinking market of large format cameras. I am very lucky to own one of them, the 33/33, a very very special one.

Yes and your P should also be in black wich was also only for thies 300 pieces! I have the 8/300 and very short after thad the P2 came out! So be happy to have one of the newest P's. And a special edition has better resales worth. You are a lucky guy!
