Don McCullin in Africa
I have buyed the Don McCullin book about Africa. It's splendid. By format it seems a 4x5 or, perhaps, 6x7 cm work. What do you know about the camera used by McCullin?

Re: Don McCullin in Africa
I don't know what he used for the Africa book, but Don has used 6x7 MF and 4x5 in recent years. For the longest time for MF he used one of those old Mamiya Press cameras with the detachable backs and lenses and for 4x5 he had an old Technika and and old wooden Gandolfi. I think it was. He tended to use the latter mainly for still lifes and some landscapes.
I also remeber that back in the day, while he had the famous Nikon that took a bullet, he went on to use OM1's and OM2's for a lot of stuff. The only problem was they were a bit unreliable after a few weeks use "in combat" so he would take half a dozen or so and ditch them when they stopped working....

I remember a photo I saw of him in Viet Nam behind a wall with Marines on either side of him. The Marines had all ducked down to avoid the incoming fire, but McCullum still had his head and Nikon above the top of the wall, getting the picture. |

Re: Don McCullin in Africa
I was thinking the Africa's book was made with a hanheld 4x5 or a 6x7 MF. Looking the high definition of pictures I think it would be the 4x5 but... I don't know really. Thank you
