    Fine Focus Workshops May Retreat

The Boston Globe is going to do a travel piece featuring our Fine Focus Workshops and concentrating on the May retreat as a destination for a "Weekend Getaway" for photographers. The piece is scheduled to run in about two weeks.

Obviously, we're delighted with the publicity. At the same time we want to be sure all of our friends here who have been thinking about coming can find a space.

More details on the website (www.finefocusworkshops.com) or direct from Bruce, Richard or me.

Thanks Ted, I wish you the best on this.

FWIW, as much as I would love to come up your way, at the moment it's bit too far from Hawaii, but perhaps once I move back to the mainland (in the next 6 - 8 months), I may get up your way. That is one part of the country I have always wanted to visit.

Good for you, congrats on the article. Just make sure Bruce has his coffee in the morning (maybe with a little scotch added) so he is not too grumpy...

The article says: "The truly dedicated shooters sign up at Maine Media Workshops in Rockport, probably the best photography school in the Northeast."
Is this the same as the Maine Photographic Workshops? I thought they went belly-up last year.

Same place. I guess it's a name change. They have many courses in video production, too, so "Media" would make sense.

David Lyman, the founder and original owner, sold Maine Workshops last year.

The rumor I heard from someone who lives in the area is that they were dramatically overextended, and were under pressure from their banks to cut some costs. For a while, they shut down their Rockport College extension - don't know if that has been resurrected.

Hey! I read the Globe article! It's my fifteen minutes of fame!

OK, well, that's over. Back to being merely mortal.

    Time to go use Richard's new 6 1/4-pound 8x10!
