I leave the digital work for the urologists and proctologists.
New software and upgrades are a fact of life with computers as I'm sure you know.
However upgrading a site of this size is a major project and will cost a lot of money.
I've been on here for a few years now and it seems fine to me. The moderators do a great job of keeping it clean and civil.
My work involves, among other things, managing a room full of Internet servers.
I suspect APUG had to redo their software for security and maintenance reasons. The fancier and popular content management and bulletin board systems come with constant security patching due to their complexity. The back end software (like databases and software tools and libraries) can also be complex and require updating for various security reasons as well. Typically, it's all a big disparate patchwork of software from all over the world cobbled together.
If the software here is working fine and not facing any big security risk in the manner which it is deployed, I see no good reason to upgrade.
We're reopening this four year old thread... why?

Steve,
APUG and this forum are two unrelated web sites.
If you want to improve your photography skills, you'll need to buy some of the Ansel gear that's going around. Everyone knows that silver bullet will make your vision admired by all. See the classified section after you've been a member for 30 days.

Chris,
It was a joke. How would rehosting a website improve someone's photography?

Steve, you really should be checking out the classified section for the Ansel gear.
