42CM Heliar Vss 42CM Euryscop Portrait Series III

A new page here, for the folks who like to see the antiques doing battle with each other. Hope you enjoy half as much as I did. All of the images were done with a Century 10A camera on 8X10 Aerial Recon Panatomic X

So did Voigtlaender march forward, or backwards when they left the Aplanat's behind for the Anastigmat's?

    not easy to jugde..

Interesting though, to see image 3 and 4

In 3 the stems(?) are sharper than in nr 4, but on the other hand the handle looks sharper in nr 4 than in nr 3....

I think both would be great for portraits..

The Euryscop rendering of the window sill arrangement is lovely.

That all depends on how you define the movement. It appears to me that they couldn't go wrong in either direction. I see things I like in both.

That's obviously the answer. Both are superb instruments and I'm thrilled to have them. I love that the top of the wooden toolbox is almost liquid in the Heliar version. And the Euryscop just delights me with it's incredible transition from softness to sharpness, and back again. The differences are so subtle, you couldn't make a bad choice if you had a studio and both were available. In time I suppose you'd sort it out. I'm leaning towards the Euryscop though.

Would I be right in claiming that the Heliar is a fraction more contrasty ?

No problem here with either IE8 or Firefox 3.6.13.
