10-bit graphic card

Just to share my experience in case somebody is looking to go 10-bit
I just upgraded my monitor to a NEC P41W (sRGB) with 14-bit LUT.
I decided to also change my video card in order to use Display Port and 10-bit out of Photoshop.
Based on reputation I pick-up a ATI V3900. Outside of the obligation to load the catalyt panel, disable any form of Aero, the 10-bit was hit and miss at best.
WHen it was one, the monitor calibration was off.
Not very happy with the result, I pick-up a Quadro 600 (equivalent offering from NVIDIA).
That is a big difference, installed the card, loaded the Windows 7 64 bit driver restarted load Photoshop with the ramp file and right away with no fuss the ramp is smooth with no change to the monitor calibration.
In my books if you are looking for 10-bit in WIndows 7 64 bit I suggest to look at the Quadra 600 instead of ATI offer.

Is the difference really noticeable? I now have a wide gamut NEC display (PA301W), but use a Mac. So no 10 or 16bit drivers for me at this point, even though the hardware supports it. I've been curious how much smoother the grayscale could be with the higher precision, but not curious enough to install Windows on the hardware and find out.

I will tell you further down the road. I just installed this. I am not sure that it makes a lot lot of difference.
