    Captured light

Eight Denver-area photographers will have an exhibit at the Curtis Center for the Arts and Humanities in Greenwood Village, Colorado (Denver suburbs). The photographs are all black and white photographs and are printed with traditional wet darkroom methods and were all made with large format cameras (4x5 to 8x20). There will be about 100 photographs in the exhibit.

The exhibit opens on January 8 and runs through February 19. The Curtis Center is open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. An opening reception will be held on Saturday January 12 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm.

    The photographers are:

    Eric Biggerstaff

    Jeff Graves

    Michael Kadillak

    Keith Pitman

    Jim Sidinger

    George Vago

    Chauncey Walden

    Bruce Zander

Several of the photographers are members of the Large Format Photography Forum.

We hope to see a large number of our friends at the exhibit opening.

Looking forward to seeing as many LF members as can make the show. Anyone that finds Denver or the front range in their travel schedule during the second weekend of the month, we would love to have you as guests to our LF group. Other times are open for field trips to share the great photographic opportunities we have here in Colorado with fellow LF photographers. I had the great opportunity last year to hook up with the great folks in Cleveland at one of their field trips and it was a great time. Special thanks to John Powers that was gracious to allow me the use of his Phillips 8x10 and several lenses to capture some of the special images from the area.

Everyone delivered their prints to the Center today and it looks like it will be a really nice show in a great venue.

Re: Captured Light: Expressions in Traditional Photography

The opening reception for this show in Greenwood Village, Colorado is tomorrow night. We hope some from the Forum will attend.

Also, note that there are two Gallery talks that are associated with this exhibit:

On January 24 at 6:30 pm, Jeff Graves will present and demonstrate making wet plate ambrotypes.

On February 7 at 6:30 pm, George Vago and Eric Biggerstaff will discuss "Why Large Format, Traditional Photography in the Digital Age?"
