Replacement blade for rotary trimmer from Zone VI

I posted this question a while back, but the suggestions I got led nowhere. Thought I'd try again before coughing up the cash for another trimmer.

I need a blade for my rotary trimmer. It's called a Rollcut Safety Trimmer and has Calumet's name on it. I bought it new from Zone VI around 1994, with the 'lifetime guarantee' which turned out to refer to the company's lifetime, not mine.

Anyway, this is the 18" model. I do need a bigger one so maybe I have to bite the bullet.

Calumet claims no knowledge of this product. Likewise with Rotatrim. Any more ideas anyone?

I'd start by looking at catalogs to find a trimmer that looks like yours and see who makes it. It's certain that ZoneVI OEM'd it, I can't imagine designing your own papercutter with all the different ones out there. Perhaps Richard Ritter knows- he wrote the article in VC magazine about the ZoneVI cameras and might well know where the trimmers came from.

Forgive my lack on knowledge here but can't the blade be sharpened?

Is this an English trimmer, a German trimmer, a US made trimmer? That will help to narrow it down.

    Hi Ed,

A few years ago, I had a Rollcut Safety Trimmer. It used a single single circular guide bar and had a blue metal base. If this matches you trimmer, it was made by Dahle, in Germany. B&H (www.bhphoto.com) carries them in various sizes.

The trimmer says 'made in England for Calumet'. It has a single circular guide bar. The base is white composite material.

I have the Zone VI "winter" 1994-95 catalogue. Page 51 shows the Rotary Trimmer "made in England". Guarantee not mentioned. It also shows the Rollcut Safety Trimmers (18 and 24"), "to provide years of dependable use, 5 Year Guarantee". Country of origin not mentioned. today it would be China I guess..

    Hello again Ed,

It's obviously not the Dahle trimmer. Check out the picture of the Rotatrim Eurocut trimmer on the B&H website. The Eurocut trimmers are economy models, made by Rotatrim in GB. They have a single guide bar and a white composite baseboard. Replacement blades are available.
