Although Peter's location may be correct, I was always under the impression that it was a bit more easterly, on the southwest shoulder of Polly Dome. Gordon Hutchings used to lead AA Workshops to the tree. You might call the YV Gallery to get more accurate information. There are many Western Junipers fitting the description rooted on the granite slabs rising from the Tenaya Lake's northern shore. Frankly, I've never understood the intentional aping of well known images, other than for the purposes of education or homage, but to each his own. The window for an easy drive is closing, if not permanently, for the season – but you could always ski in (he says without a hint of sarcasm).
Vaughn's location photograph looks to be from the vicinity of the much westerly Olmstead Point. I've seached my Yosemite Place Names book and have come up empty on "Osborn Point".

That's where the above photo pf my boys were taken. The area where the image was taken the OP is probably looking for, I believe, can be seen in my photo -- on the left hand side off in the distance, but on this side of the big dome that is on the north side of the lake (my photo is looking roughly east).
