Fire in the historic Campbell & Kelly Machine Shop in Tonopah!

I did some doc. photos last Saturday. The fire was on Wednesday Oct. 3

I've put a page up here. The first image is pretty bad, but is a document none the less.

If anybody has a shaper and can help me rebuild windows for John, speak up. This is a large commitment, and I have little talent in glazing . . yet.

This is a heart break. A cultural landmark has suffered.

Sad news... Good luck to John, and to you, in putting things right.

How many windows need replacing and is the outer frame still intact? If you have the measurements, maybe we can find that size replacements? What about the doors? This would be an honorable side-challenge for the next Tonopah get-together!

There is not a whole lot of those old buildings standing that are still used, belt drive, would love to see that and photograph it. If it was possible I'd love to help, like that Tonopah area a lot.

I've got to do some research. Chances are they built the windows and casings themselves in their own wood shop. Wood shop is the next building behind the main shop area. Wouldn't it be fun to use the same machinery to build the new windows as built the originals 100 years ago.

I was going to jump on it today, but decided I needed to go out and cut firewood to keep ms. galli warm this winter. Cut about a cord today.

Wish I was a bit closer ... pretty good at wood work, removing old putty, cutting glass and puttying it all together again ;-)

This is a worthwhile project ...

Remember, too, the char from the timbers, and machinery can be removed with 'dry ice [sand] blasting.'
Was there insurance to cover any of this?

Two, of many videos from YouTube-Dry Ice Blasting:
