    Tripod thread adaptor – HELP!

    Hi all,
This may be a stupid question, but I can't seem to find an answer googling!

I have an old Agfa Ansco 10x8 studio camera, with a threaded brass insert fixed into the wooden base plate (original I think). However, this is a smaller thread that my giant Cambo head has.

Does anyone know the sizes of these threads and whether an adapter is available?

    Many thanks
    Chris

The standard thread for most cameras is 1/4 inch by 20 t.p.i. Larger cameras often ise a 3/8 by 16 t.p.i thread. Most inserts use these threads. Try removing the insert. The original thread may fit your tripod. If not, an adaptor can be made by any machinist or by someone with basic woodworking skills and a T-nut.
