I'm not sure if one of those links references Steve Hopf - I think he's on EBay too - but he makes a really nice GG at a reasonable price. For a little more he'll use borosilicate glass, really tough stuff and his 'Ultrafine' lapping process makes for a really bright image. I have one on my 4x5 and plan to get one for 8x10 soon.
Rodger,
Grinding your own is also an options. See: http://www.largeformatphotography.in...g+ground+glass and http://www.largeformatphotography.in...g+ground+glass
IanG also has an article on APUG on how to do it.
Just another option,
Len
Yep, just looked and 'photofixation' is Steve Hopf's EBay store. Definitely worth a look. I haven't tried all of them, but I didn't feel the need to look further after sticking one of his GGs on my 4x5....
I also highly recommend Steve Hopf. A nice guy, very reliable. The glass is very nice.
I grind my own for all of my cameras. I grind with white aluminum oxide, 9 micron first and then 5 micron.
+1 for Steve Hopf.
I have an 8x10 borosilicate GG and although it has survived the hard knocks, some of the gg surface was
"smoothed" by the front standard rubbing on it. Nothing too disastrous.
+3 for Steve Hopf
Thanks All! Just can't believe how helpful everyone is around here.
