So....is there a proprietary Deardorff Hernia Appliance?

I've been playing with a new to me Deardorff camera case---a beautifully made very classy home for my V8---there is a compartment for everything and so far I've moved in the V8, a dozen film holders, three lenses mounted on boards, focusing cloth, loupe, filters & lens cleaning kit, light meter and a couple of cable releases.
And then I tried to pick it up.

Those old time Deardorff photographers must have been tough hombres!

That's the primary reason why I went to using a backpack + separate camera case

    Even though I'm 24, I don't want a hernia!

I'll still use my backpack, but the case is wonderful for keeping the 'dorff gear organized at home. I'm simply in awe of the idea of some pro lifting a fully loaded case into the trunk of a 1940 Packard though!

John, that reminds me of when I helped my sister move a number of years ago. There was this humongous box that was left at the end of the move. It turns out that her roommate had filled it full of books. Maybe some dude out of a strong man competition might have been able to pick it up. I don't know but I don't think so.

You could perhaps have one of these embroidered with the Deardorff logo - http://www.nulifemedical.com/store/p...FYFo4Aods1MApw

Ever see the film, "The Photographer," about Edward Weston?
And then, a little later, he needed hernia surgery on BOTH sides.

This is why Phillips Compact II cameras exist.

The 'proprietary Deardorff Hernia Appliance' is more commonly called a 'photo assistant'.

Hmmmm...I could sell these on ebay! I wonder how much the embroidery would add to the cost?
