Nice dark landscapes, a little reminiscent of Sally Mann's work. Nice.

Very dark, not too sharp, and there's a branch in the middle of the frame in the last picture.

Better than my first efforts, at least you got recognizable images which is more than I did. But they're out of focus and underexposed. Unless you wanted them to look like that you need to learn a little more about focusing your camera and determining the appropriate exposure.

    Hi Cody,

    Some questions, if I may...
You mentioned a Speed Graphic. What lens and shutter?
How are you focusing, with the rangefinder or with a loupe on the ground glass?

What exposure meter are you using? Do you take incident readings or spot readings?

Good first try. Let's work on technique.

i think a lot of it is the crappy scans rather then the negatives themselves

    1. shows more of where your style might go...follow that
    2. terrible composition, pose lighting etc
    3. below average composition, with to much backlighting from sky and image too dark with out detail
    4. the stick does nothing to help a poor shot.

a good shot is not the best of what is available.

find a simple composition with light facing the subject not behind it, and spend all your time on that one shot until you get the print you want.

as in do multiple exposures with different aperture setting and speeds.

write down all your actions for each shot, and when you post more pics include that info so we can say, 'oh: this and that'

main point: keep going, you'll all ways get there faster than if you stop.
    through a glass darkly...
