Hi neighbor. I'm from Ohio and I'm new too. I built a Bender 4x5 kit years ago but made an adapter back so I could shoot digital with it and never got around to trying it with film. It wasn't very sturdy, so I never shot much with it, but it was fun. I finally got a Calumet 45N recently, ordered some B&W and color film to experiment with and am eagerly anticipating loading my film holders for the first time and giving it a whirl. I also like to experiment with homemade lenses of various sorts.

Hey, a big welcome to the both of you! Here's an old thread about DIY lenses you two might find interesting. Yep, you can use just about anything that focuses light to act as a lens!

Welcome aboard. Cheap magnifying glasses work really well, too.

My most used one is an 85 mm f3.5 that I made for my Canon with a drilled out body cap, a short piece of bicycle inner tube, and 1 lens from an old nonworking twin lens reflex that my dad had. It functions sort of like a cross between a Lens Baby and a tilt shift lens. One of my favorite shots with it is attached.

I'm currently working on finding a housing for a piece of glass I picked up from Surplus Shed that looks like it will make an interesting fish-eye lens.
