    Great Room, Saltbox, Massachusetts, 2012
Sinar, Fuji 160C, 90/5.6 Super Angulon,

(I'm reposting this. The small thumbnail and the resized version that the forum software creates delivered results I didn't like. My new webpage design makes it easier to get photos up there so I can link them directly.)

I used a polarizer to remove reflection from map on wall, and that resulted in an exposure of 40 seconds at f/32. As I wrote before, I'm impressed with the dynamic range of 160C. There is good tonal separation between the clear bottles and the sunlit exterior through the window, which is MANY stops brighter than the shadowed areas. I had the exterior at EV15, the glare on the table top was EV12, the white walls measured EV8-9, and the shadows at lower left EV5, without the effects of the polarizer.

This room is not a museum--this house is occupied during the summer every year. And there are lots of modern things in it, but it can't escape the primitive. The lack of grid power and interior illumination that is bright enough to be visible during the day reinforces that feel.

    Re: Large Format Interiors

I shot a couple of interiors recently when I heard that a local pub had been sold and the new owners were planning a renovation. It was a pretty rough bar called Happy Jack's Saloon from about 1927 to 2004 with a much deserved reputation for what seemed like weekly knife fights and/or fist fights and the occasional shooting. The new owners changed the name, and cleaned up its reputation, but left everything else more or less the same. So when I heard about the new plans for the place I thought it would be a good time to shoot some photos and belatedly capture some history.

I also took a picture from outside, and I posted it in the "Show Me Your Night Shots" thread.

I like very much this shot, though I find the inner of the tiny chapel a bit claustrophobic.
