I wonder if there were any "disappearances" just before he got his new heart....

Why would he need a new heart? He got by fine without a heart before.

I wish I could afford to shoot with my 8x10 more often.

There are only three types of mounting flanges; too big, too small and wrong thread!

You can. Just put your other cameras on the shelf for a while. Remember, one 8x10 is worth 4 4x5s, or 50 - odd 35mm negatives.

True but whilst it's fairly normal to go out with a couple of rolls of 35mm film, just one sheet of 8x10 seems a bit silly - Although when I built my first 5x4 camera, I only had one film holder so I went out with just two pieces of film!

    Steve.
I'm getting some bulk film and start rolling 35mm cassettes with 8 -12 exposures. I have a hard time using up even a 20 exp. roll most times.

I've done "lightweight" hiking with 8x10, one lens, one holder and been perfectly content each time.

I normally carry one 8X10 holder with color film, and one with black and white. I try to
avg just one good shot per week of 8x10. Over the course of a year, that's a lot of images to print! With smaller cameras, I can obviously afford more shots. Lately I've been recovering from a geezer disease (gout in the toes), so had to keep the weight down by shooting 4x5. Hopefully this weekend I'll be able to work out on steeper trails and carry the 8x10 again, but will probably compromise the weight with a carbon tripod rather than the Ries.
