    Re: 8x10 photographers

Both Shore and Misrach used 8x10 for most of their early or "classic" work. Neither could
focus a view camera worth a damn, and I don't think either printed their own color work.
I was friends of the folks who printed Misrach's since he lives here in the neighborhood. Interesting images if you like that old washed-out Vericolor look on old Kodak paper. Getting those same kinds of colors (which Meyerowitz was a master of too) would be a
bit tricky since color neg film has "improved" so much. You might try overexposing Portra
160 to get it a little muddier, then printing it odd.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Christopher Burkett.

Sally Mann has been doing most of her work on 8x10". Just in recent years she has gone up to 13x15"…

Yesterday I went through Guido Guidi's book "New Map of Italy", and did not as rich color as Shor's book "uncommon places", nor the framing quality as shor's have! Guido's book has even a 3 tilted photos, and the color looks as you over exposed the film, I do not know maybe is from the printing company. Most of his photos if you see in total; you feel that you want to go back away from the subject to see the whole picture.

My favourite 2 are the front inside cover, textures. Startling. But I liked a lot of them, also pg 99 and pg 103. They just arent as detatched and American as Stephen Shores. I feel that he is photographing the texture of his Italy, its not meant to be a picture of place as much as a record of what a photographer notices in passing.
