Benefits of wet mounting?

you don't need very much fluid, too much can be harder to deal with. if you're not using the right tape (aztek sells it) and the mylar comes loose, you'll have a mess on your hands at ??RPM.

What about pressure necessarily applied to the fixed drum during mounting and taping? Could it have a detrimental effect on the drum's balance and possibly cause damage in the long run?

But if you had a drum scanner with non-removable drum, what can be done to secure the film on the drum as much as possible and at the same time eliminate Newton's rings?

Which drum scanner has a fixed non-removable drum? I have never seen one like this.

hey, either you want newton rings or you don't. I have a screen (1030ai, actually two) and they seem to be well built machines. I'd prevent damage by only using necessary force.

as I said, Aztek sells it. Do some google searching at this point, all these questions have been asked.

If you use Kami, you should use Aztek's tape, as Kami will eat the adhesive on a number of tapes, and you don't want a sheet flying off why the machine is running. Do a search here. Lenny Eiger has a How-to video on wet-mounting on a drum.
