    Moving deVere 8x10 advice! Manual?

    I bought a DeVere 8x10 on eBay.

Tomorrow I am moving a big DeVere 8x10 enlarger chassis. No head.

Here is the eBay post. I know nothing of this and need advice on how to handle this monster.

Advice on moving it, using it, anything at all.

    Thanks!

That looks like a Fotar not a De Vere enlarger.

It's not a De Vere or I'd advise you

    Thanks!
Several friends, a designated driver, and an adequate supply of beer. Good Luck!

That's a Fotar 10x10, not a devere. It's HEAVY. I own one, moved it a couple weeks ago, know it well at this point. Send me a PM with your phone number.

get a buddy, doesn't have to be smart but will need to be strong.
It will fit in a 4x8 trailer as a whole if you lay it down but it's very hard to move (we had 4 guys when I bought mine)

You'll need to remove the counter weights after locking down all three stages (don't worry, there's a diagram on their configuration online) after locking the stages in place.
Remove the weights (two) under the table.
Lay it down on something so it's propped up, remove the legs.
slide the the easel stage off the column after unhooking the cables.
slide the lens and neg stage off the column being careful not to rip the bellows. it helps to slide these two stages onto some 3/8" plywood cut the width of the column in order to keep them together.
leave the cables in the column, tape them around it so they don't flop around or get lost.

that takes he column down to the bare minimum weight but it's still awkward to carry up stairs as I had to do. it won't be going with me if/when I move.

It looks much heavier than a De Vere 5108 chassis which can be split making it much easier to move. I still needed to hire a vehicle to move mine after I bought it. You will need help.

Take some of it apart if you can to cut down on the weight.

As others have pointed out you now own a Fotar.

Jon Wilson has pictures of his experience moving a Fotar in the link below. You may want to e-mail him.

If you need a head there were a few listed in the for-sale section. Search for "Chromega F" or "Aristo 8x10"
