    extracting silver from old paper

I obtained a few boxes of 16x20 and 20x24 bw fiber paper which is well past expiry daye. Presumably fogged, and if so I was considering alternatives to just trashing the paper - such a waste. Would it be worthwhile to somehow extract the silver for alt work?

You can fix the paper and use it to print with your alt process du jour.
You can recover silver from spent fixer, but minute amounts may not be worth the effort if you're looking for a quick return on your investment. If you're doing silver recovery already, every little bit adds to the results.
