He did use a LF camera did he not? The Donata is a 9x12 camera = LF.

Maybe there's a version I haven't seen but the Zeiss Ikon Donatas with which I'm familiar were 6.5x9 cameras with interchangeable roll film backs, i.e. medium format cameras.

No, both sizes are view cameras. They have a ground glass and use single sheet holders. You can mount a roll film back. I shoot sheet film in my 6.5x9 Recomar and understand that is acceptable to post. Not sure about roll film, but I understand some people use them on 4x5s and post.
The Donata Model 227 is 9x12 and the smaller one uses sheet film or a rollfilm back (also available for the 9x12 version) http://www.kameramuseum.de/0-fotokam...ata/index.html

the donata is a LF camera, normally using 9x12, and with special backs you can do 6x9cm oder 4x5"
so it is my testing time get closer to LF
