    Advena lens stage adjustment

Does anyone have a manual for the 5x4" Advena enlarger or know how to adjust the lens stage tightness

PS, for the record the big eccentric bolts are locked with a 3mm Allen key

    Still the silence

Those look like the adjustments for the rollers that ride on the upright column.

If they are also the adjustment for lens stage parallelism I'd say you have a real chore ahead of you. I'd advise doing anything to get out of it: Are you sure there isn't another adjustment? Are you sure you really need to adjust it? If the lens stage is parallel to the negative stage then you may be better off adjusting the column perpendicularity.

To help you keep your sanity you might want to purchase a Versalab laser aligner: http://www.versalab.com/server/photo...s/parallel.htm

It is possible to make your own aligner from a laser pointer. Easier to do if you have some machine tools - at the least a drill press.

Misread that in haste - it isn't parallelism you are adjusting for.

By tightness I assume you mean the lens stage doesn't stay where you put it.

If this model is adjusted by handwheels then I would look at the handwheel mechanism under the easel for a tension adjustment. You would want the lens carriage to move as freely as possible on the column. To that end I would leave those eccentric adjusters alone.
