Is there a lock for the vertical rise on a Linhof Tech V?
Vick
Nope
No, there isn't because you don't need one if the front rise mechanism is working properly. If yours isn't then you need a repair.

Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you do criticize them you'll be
a mile away and you'll have their shoes.
Thanks Frank and Brian. I'm just checking out a Tech V. The mechanism works, it seems stiff (from age). But it holds its position. I was just curious whether there was a lock. Every other movement has a solid lock.
I am amused and surprised by a plastic rack gear. This camera is so much metal; why would Linhof have chosen plastic for the vertical travel rack gear?

So it would be self lubricating against the gear in the lever. Linhof uses a nylon type rack in most of their cameras, including all modern (past 35 years or so) Kardan cameras. Coincidentily, so does Novoflex in their macro focusing racks.
Your car bumbers are also plastic and so is most of the 787 and the Corvette. Who says everything is better if metal?
