    omega d5xl dichroic problems

    Hi everybody,
my omega (used) finally arrived, dusty and rusty, but nasty looking!
Everything is fine, but there is no light coming out of it!
It has two power cords, one for power, one for timer, but no timer so far!
I was hoping to do some contact prints for a start (arrived with just 80 mm Rodenstock, no negative carrier) but do not know how to make it run without timer.
Is it maybe the bulb, or something with the transformer (I checked the fuses, and the fan is working OK).
Please help, I am eager to use it for the first time!
    Thanks

You might try calling Harry Taylor at www.classic-enlargers.com.

The "timer input" on the transformer needs 120v to power the lamp. Is that how you have it rigged up. Do you have the manual?
I'd just get a timer as it is not so easy to plug-in and un-plug it to make your exposure.

Ic-racer, if I get you right, for the lamp to light it needs two power sources (therefore two plugs!)...My logic was that timer just cuts the circuit...Well, I ordered the manual from KHB, it's just that I can't wait to make the first exposure.
Niel, almost every problem on Omegas leads to Harry Tailor, I am keeping that as the last chance, I'm sure this is not the last problem I have. The enlarger came in poor shape (dust and rust) but it already looks better. So does the whole garage!
    Thanks guys.

Yes the plug that comes off the power supply powers the fan and supplies power to the "Timer Output" Plug. The "Timer Input" plug usually will get its power from the "Timer Output" plug through the timer. The original Omega timer has two short cords (male and female) on the back and sits on the top of the power supply, held in place with a screw.

    Hi Ic,
now is OK, I inserted the timer plug in AC and glorious light flooded...Everything fine, tomorrow I'll start printing. Two plugs confused me, and I didn't want to short-circuit something.
    Thanks (for now) for help.
