Cool Gas Prices not so bad when you look at printer ink.

    http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-s...omparison.html

"Oh, and don't think of printing this article and putting it on the fridge. Printer ink is a whopping $1,750 per litre."

My own quick calculations give me the following:

We get our 4800 inks for about $72 for 220ml which is about 32 cents/ml or ~ $1216/Gal.
Epson "78" ink cartridges contain about 7.4ml of ink and run about $15 ($2.03/ml). This is about $7,703/Gal!!!

What I'm getting from this data is that I need to convert my Matrix into a printer. I'd probably have to talk to Roy Harrington about a name-change for the rip. Maybe OcTaneRip

What kind of mileage does your printer get? Measured in square miles of paper per gallon of ink, I suppose...

I seem to remember similar analysis back when gas soared to 2 bucks per gallon!

It's not the gas that's expensive. It's the container.

I buy my ink from Cone (inkjetmall.com). I get it by the liter, at $150-$200 per liter, depending on what you are buying. Once you get past the purchase of a set of refillable carts, you're home free.

I hope that helps a little...

They do give away their printers.
Here is a list of the consumables for my Canon iPF6100:
    $79.00 x 12 ink tanks
    $685.00 x 2 print heads
    $70.00 maintenance cartridge
    $2388.00 total

That's very close to the price of the printer with a rebate.

When you buy a new printer, is all of that included or are these consumables a required separate purchase?
