    Greetings and Salutations

Hello, all! My name is Tim. I am just visiting as I have questions on a camera a recently aquired from my boss who had no idea what he had and gave it to me. I don't know how these view camera's work howerver after a couple weeks of light research, I know what they are.

So, to be cordial, I am 23 from Minnesota and love photography. I may even dive into this kinda thing someday when I'm old, rich and fat, but untill then it seems to be a hobby that is a bit outside my price range and skill set.

So my quandry will be posted shortly in the bodies and accessories area and I hope that if you can help me identify and even appraise this stuff, you stop by the other thread.

    Thanks!

    Tim,

    Welcome to the forum!

Large format photography not as expensive as you may think. There's ways to keep it within your budget. Give it a try, I think you will find that it's a lot of fun.

    Good Luck,

Since digital came along the equipment side of large format photography has gotten a lot more affordable. Plus, you don't need a pile of equipment: the cameras are versatile enough and lend themselves to so many different kinds of photography that one or two lenses may be all you ever need. Good luck and welcome to the group!

Price of photography: cheap camera, lens, lots of film.
Price of things that have no ----ing bearing on you making better photographs: A whole pile of money. Shovel it on, burn it up. Your pictures won't get better. Different, maybe, but not noticeably better.

The biggest factor between a fabulous photograph and an ignorable photograph is what is in front of the lens.
So find something fabulous to photograph.

Also, when you're "old, rich, and fat" you'll be old, rich, and fat (although I cannot yet see that as something to strive for).

Do it now, while you are young, poor, and (hopefully) not yet obese. $500 will get you going. Really.
