I've just purchased a betterscanning film holder for my Epson V700. I plan to use it mainly for scanning 4 x 5 film using Vuescan.
Does anyone have any tips to offer which would help?

The Betterscanning site’s Help Page has useful tips & photos, especially for determining optimal scanning height.
A great place to begin.
Will you be wet mounting, or dry mounting?

Definitely you have to make the masks out of the black stuff they supply. I didn't do this for about a year and when I did my scans were dramatically better. Duh. Follow the instructions.
Another question:
On the v750, I have found that the BS holder needs to be set to 3,5 turns of the screw to be in focus.
Can anyone confirm that, even roughly?
Thanks
One turn (from 12 to 12) = .8 mm
3.5 turns x .8 mm = 2.8 mm
Generally speaking, this falls within the expected range – but your test scans at various heights will confirm whether 2.8 mm is the optimal height for your particular scanner.
Thanks, Heroique.
