    DSLR - Adapters to 4 x 5 Cameras

    Hallo All!

What is your opinion about movable DSLR-Adapters for LF Cameras?
As instant film begins to disappear from the market could these adapters be a new way for proofing? If I take a simple digital shot from the subject with the DSLR camera and the DSLR-lens it wouldn´t be a real proof because of the different lens and the different shutter at the LF camera. But with that kind of adapter I would use the LF lens and the LF shutter have the DSLR shutter on B-setting.
O.K. for a 4x5 picture I would have to shoot several digitals but I would see all the different sections of the picture regarding sharpness, and exposure too.

I've made one of these adapters for my Sinar. Use it for exposure proofing, Polaroid style, and even did some close portraits with it - works like a TS-E, but 150mm TS-E did not exist...

Normally I don't do several digitals, only one exposure for the most critical area.

In time: since film plane and sensor plane are different with these adapters, focus or sharpening checks are not possible AFAIK...

    waste of time.
use your dslr with it's own lens when you can. the only time it won't work is for close up work where the exact angle isn't possible.

    Thank you both!
Oh stupid me! Centainly the film plane is different from the sensor plane, so no sharpening possible. It only works for infinity where sharpening is not necessary. Exposure proofing seems to be possible as Alex stated. BTW, what is TS-E?

TS-E is dSLR speak for Tilt Shift lens. At least that's what Canon calls them.
