I just shot 12 sheets of Arista.EDU Ultra 400 today and after processing, all of my negs have a uniform light (clear) line (not a scratch) going down the long side. I was wondering if anyone has seen this before, knows what it could be, or knows of any problems like this with the film.
It is like what may happen if a roller spread out or rubbed off some of the emulsion on one side exactly parallel with the long edge of the sheet on the notch side. The line is about 1.5mm wide and is exactly 6mm from the edge on every sheet. Exposure is fine on both sides of the line and it is far enough in that the film holder doesn't reach it.
At first I thought light leak, but quickly realized this would result in a dark line, not a light one. By chance, one of my films was cocked a bit to one side in the holder. The line from the film holder is at an angle to the edge of the film, but the problem line is still exactly parallel with the edge. This leads me to believe that the problem is with the film and not me.
Also, I am processing with the Mod54 and Paterson 3 reel setup, so any problem with that would shift sides depending on which sid of the reel the films are locked into. I use the inversion method from the Mod54 sight, not rotating.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be very welcome!
Thanks,
Jim
