Hello Richard Ian Stef and I met up at the surf club in south bank Stef and Ian were kind enough to show me their cameras as I am new to this format and have never shot with it before it will be nice to meet up for a shoot I have not yet got my camera will soon do.

Just ordered the new chamonix 045F1 the design is a bit different arriving in match this year and I am excited this will be my first new larger format camera. Thanks to Stef and Ian for letting me have a look at their cameras sometime ago.

Just paid for the new Chamonix 4x5 with the protective leather case should be shipped in two or three days.

Received the Chamonix 045F1 camera with a lens board and couple of film holders I also got the leather cover. I have not yet played around with it yet but will eventually get there.

Thought I should share my experience with using the chamonix 4x5. I have been just practicing focussing and using different movements at home and outdoors. The camera itself is quiet rigid and sturdy I use it with a 135mm lens. I got myself a rodenstock loupe x4 which I am happy with but find I need a loupe with more magnification I may not need one as I have not yet developed any film. I loaded my first fp4 film and sent it out for developing only to find out I loaded it wrong lol. I have also been experimenting with the cameras rear asymmetrical movements which makes focussing so easy. I was able to finish my focussing within few minutes instead of tilting focussing and further tilting again and refocusing. With this it is a two step process. Just shot a roll of 120 film on a 6x12 back will have to develop it and scan to load it up here. I guess it's still early days but getting the hang of things.

Hi Steve. Things have been pretty quiet in this thread for a while. I have been super busy for the last few months and the LF photography has taken a back seat. Hopefully that will change in the second half of the year...

Dwarak - glad you are starting to get the hang of the Chamonix! I look forward to seeing some of your results.

Must be almost time for a Brisbane beer again soon...
