Re: The Gregory Crewdson film is coming!

    (I) find it interesting they seem to only show(at least in the trailer) him using film. I thought he abandoned film in favor of a P1 digi back a few years ago? At least the guys over at Capture Integration were all gung-ho over them supposedly selling him one...

I find his work "interesting". Not a huge fan of it, but I've never really looked at it in depth either. I love the technical part of his photographs, but I'm still struggling with the "idea" behind the photograph. Maybe I'll never understand...

Will this be a dvd release(as in you have to pay for it), a streaming(pay, or free) release? Inquiring minds want to know

I think you can't look at Greg's pictures as pictures. They extend beyond that. The interesting part of the images isn't the image its the production, the work behind the scenes. I think if you're only paying attention to the visual experience the pictures become pornographic--eye candy. Yeah, he's referencing Close Encounters. Jeff Wall references paintings. Justine Kurland totally ripped off Joel Sternfeld (really, during one of her visits to MassArt she said, "This is my Joel Sternfeld project.").

I think his best work was his Firefly work. Funny thing is that both he and Barbara Bosworth were working on a similar project at the same time. He just happened to get it shown first.

The conversation about who's ripping off who is lame and old. It's like the debate between Peal Jam "Ten" and Stone Temple Pilots "Core"

I think that movie is called Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind.

Talk about the slippage between fiction and reality! Uncanny...
